So let’s get into some hard facts

I graduated with my diploma

I went to Japan!!!! And soon I will be going to China for Christmas :)))

I started my degree (which is why I think my year only rlly started in the last 6 months lol)

I... created an Instagram to post my sketchbook... sighh, just that w meeting new ppl and other friends leaving the country, I realised it’s just easier to keep in contact w them on socmed, even if I don’t have the app installed most of the time lollll

Oh right, I got to draw the art for the steam page of a game, 24 Killers! I plan to make a separate page for visually funny games but for now if u wanna see what I drew you’ll have to... click on the link... and maybe buy the game hehe.

My relationship with art

Art sch has left my stamina for making full pieces at an all time zero. In fact, I don’t think I’ve made a full artwork at all this year! My creative abilities have diminished to mindlessly populating my sketchbook when I feel like it. I don’t rlly have a drive to improve my skill or whatnot anymore, but that doesn’t mean I’ve lost the curiosity to experiment with new mediums and subjects. It’s more like, I’m not so focused on trying to make something refined, I’m appreciating the artmaking process itself over the final product. It’s funny, because now when I flip thru my sketchbook I enjoy looking at every page I’ve filled, it’s satisfying!

Towards the end of 2023 there was a shift from making digital art to traditional, and it’s stayed that way for the whole of 2024. A few sketches in clip studio here and there, but it’s just more convenient to open my sketchbook and draw with wtv I have on hand, versus setting up my laptop and drawing tablet every time I want to do something digital. Convenience is a good word, much of my creative process is driven by convenience nowadays.

Some lessons learnt this year, out of many others

To stay consistent, you need to make time for your hobbies. You can’t just wait until inspiration strikes!!!! A lesson I’ve learnt and failed to rmb countless of times, as I’m not the most proactive person.

Habits can break, no matter how long you’ve kept them. Can go both ways, but for me I’ve noted specifically a loss of good habits... Seems like it’s just one break day and everything is lost! Next time I’m going for that jog even if it looks like a typhoon is coming.

There’s no time for regrets. Everything that’s happened to you, good or bad, has made you who u are, for better or for worse. It’s better to appreciate what you have now and look forward to the future, rather than lament on what you haven’t achieved. Cliche but true!

Not rlly the type to make new year resolutions, so I’ll end my rambling for now. I’ll see you in 2025!
